During our class we were asked by our professor the following questions:
☑️ What am I working for?
☑️ What am I living for?
The questions that were asked seems to be very easy to answer, but I find myself searching for answers. As I'm in a game show searching for my answer, and wanting to use my lifeline "call a friend".
"No man is an island" would be the simple answer to the question. We are not only working and living for ourselves but also for others. We worked and lived for our family and love ones, even for our friends and society. Our actions takes a ripple effect that could change someone's life forever.
Work Leisure Integration Matrix was discussed as part of the lecture. We were asked where are we currently for each column.
🔹 Job (work) - I can say that I'm currently at this stage. It was discussed that our generation would take different career in their lifetime before they can really decide on their profession, which I certainly agree. As of now I am working in order for me to finance my needs and to pamper myself. I know someday I would reach the vocation stage where I would offer my service to others without seeking anything in return.
🔹 Function (leisure) - I'm using my free time for me to enrich myself through pursuing further studies like this MBA program. I believed that this would serve as an edge for me reaching higher position in the corporate world, or for me to be able to teach in the academe. Using my free time to study is like investing for the future aside from self fulfillment.
🔹 Gratification (integration) - as of now I can say I'm at this stage, I work because enjoy the economic benefits of it. I work to satisfy my needs and wants. It wouldn't take overnight for you to realize that you're on the next level. Like Maslow hierarchy of needs you must first satisfy the first level before you can reach the next level.
